The Chain Letter is the 13th episode of the Fifth Season and the 90th episode overall of "The Facts Of Life." It first aired on December 28, 1983.
Synopsis[]
Tootie sends out chain letters to everyone at the same time Mrs. Garrett is awaiting a call from the Board of Health. When she encourages them to keep up the chain, they neglect their duties, but the situation creates a strange situation when Mr. Stevens, the health inspector comes to conduct an inspection. Mrs. Garrett soon discovers she's facing $500 in fines because of the girls' negligence and chain letter distraction, reminding them that sending chain letters is illegal. She fires the girls to save her business, but the girls decide to step up and reapply for their jobs the next day. They apologize to Mrs. Garrett for ignoring their responsibilities, and Mrs. Garrett decides to rehire them.
