The Facts of Life Wiki

New York, New York is the 18th episode of the Third Season and the 47th episode overall of "The Facts of Life". It first aired on March 3, 1982.

Synopsis[]

Blair and Jo go to New York to visit their old friends and meet them at a coffee shop. Blair's old friend Dina arrives, and they compliment each other's hair and clothes. Jo's old friend, Jesse, arrives, and the four begin arguing after making stereotypical remarks about each other. Blair and Dina leave and go to her house where her housekeeper, Hildy, turns out to be missing. It's revealed that she has gone to the dentist. Seemingly helpless, Dina wonders what she'll do to feed their friends, and Blair offers to make something which shocks Dina, who has never seen her cook before. Dina, herself, doesn't know how to cook. When Hildy returns, Dina yells at her for not taking better care of her teeth. Blair is appalled at the way Dina spoke to Hildy. Likewise, Dina is astounded that Blair took Hildy's side. When Dina belittles both Eastland and Jo, Blair reacts insulted and leaves.
Meanwhile, at the community center, Jesse tries to spray paint a mural made by a couple of Hispanic folks and harassing the elderly in the building, but Jo stops and chides her both times. Jesse claims they're going to be "taking over," but she and Jo get into an argument where Jesse accuses Jo of allowing Eastland to turn her into a snob before storming out of the center.
Back at the coffee shop, Blair and Jo catch up with each other and realize how much they've changed and how their friends haven't before getting on a train and going back to Peekskill.
